About me

As an experienced writer, editor, actor, podcaster, and UX designer, I've produced audio and video projects about a myriad of topics including the social sciences, global hiring, finance, business, film, television, the Internet, the fine arts, healthcare, renewable energy, industrial manufacturing, and workplace safety. You name it, I have probably spent hours researching and creating search engine-optimized content about it. I’ve also hosted and produced audio and video shows on a variety of subjects. I have a proven track record of success adapting to different audiences, brand voices, and industries. My superpower as a writer is the ability to create compelling, easy-to-understand content about complex topics for just about any audience while adhering to budget constraints, content strategy, and project timelines. As a designer, I excel at centering the perspective of my users to iterate wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to be more accessible and engaging.

I attribute both of these talents to my greatest personal and professional skill: empathy.

My background includes education and work in the field of clinical psychology. Although I ultimately decided it wasn’t for me professionally, I have maintained a lifelong fascination with the study of human cognition and behavior, which has enabled me to learn and grow in ways that have significantly benefitted my career in content production and creative design.

I grew up in Glenview, Illinois, which is a suburb of Chicago. In high school, I simultaneously discovered a love for both writing and radio. I graduated from Beloit College in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing and Psychology.

Currently, I am open to freelance copywriting, SEO, and UX design-related opportunities. If you would like to get in touch, you can reach out to me on LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram. If you prefer to email, you can reach me at mattraebel.chi@gmail.com.
